Between Muri and the Rarotongan Resort is an area called Rutaki, the lagoon is wide and clean and ideal for paddling. Along this coastline is Raro Beach Bach, more a compound than a single home, Raro Beach Bach boasts 3 studios and one 3 bedroom home which add up to a beachfront spot for groups of 12 people, sort of like your own mini resort.
The main house has a massive covered verandah overlooking the Rutaki lagoon. From the veranda there's a staircase leading up to a sundeck on the roof of the house that has stunning views of the lagoon and the ocean beyond. Back downstairs, sliding doors open up to the kitchen and living area, another set of sliders open up the master bedroom (which has an ensuite). From the living area branches the other two bedrooms.
Next door to the left is a roomy stand alone studio with its own cooking and bathroom facilities, and on the other side of the main house are the two other smaller studios connected by a thick brick wall. All but one of the bedrooms at Raro Beach Bach have views out to the ocean, and there is a lot of spots to sunbathe and spaceout. Raro Beach Bach is in easy striking distance of the Rarotongan Beach Resort, and going the other way, the beaches of Titikaveka and Muri. The compound is a realistic alternative for large groups looking beyond a resort oriented vacation.
Raro Beach Bach also won the prestigious Air New Zealand Cook Islands Tourism award for Private Rental Accommodation in 2009, no mean feat!
The minimum stay at the property is one week (7 nights)
